Music, internet, hi-tech gadgets…they are everywhere. It’s the new trend of leisure in this modern world. We indulge ourselves to this latest, state-of-the-art creation of man. It makes our life easy yet complicated. We forgot our environment, our nature where we get everything. We are amazed about what technology can bring about but neglect our real treasure…the natural wonders of the world.

There are so many natural wonders this world can offer. We can choose from a variety of land and water forms:

There is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. It is the largest coral reef in the world inhabiting approximately 1,500 species of marine fish and 360 species of hard corals. Diver’s from different part of the world visit this place to witness the astonishing view from the underwater.

The Grand Canyon in the state of Arizona in North America is also one of the most amazing creations of nature. It lays 277miles long, about 18 miles wide, and more than a mile deep. It is a nice place to take post cards on the plateau and great experience to those who love heights.

The Victoria Falls is one of the world’s greatest falls. It is found on the Zambezi River between the countries Zimbabwe and Zambia in southern Africa. It has a total height of 108meters and an average flow rate of 38,430 cu ft/s. the falls is popular for its white waters an curtain like appearance.

Mount Everest is world’s the highest mountain above sea level. It has a height of 8,848 meters (29,029 ft) and located on the Nepal-China-Tibet border in the Himalayas. It has a bluish and whitish appearance that is brought about by the rocks that made up the mountain and the snow covering it. Because of its height, many mountaineers are attracted to climb this historic place in spite of the dangers they may encounter in their adventure. This became a tourist spot for climbers.

The Aurora in the polar region became famous by its spectacular natural light display emitted by collision f charged particles directed by the earth’s magnetic field. It is visible in the north and south latitudes between 60 – 70 degrees.

There are so many other natural wonders this world has. Technology and modern life help us in many ways, but remember that nature brings about everything: the food that we eat; the water that we drink; the houses we live in; and everything around us came from nature. So, we must protect our environment! Help plant trees, save water and energy, and reduce pollution.
